Shawna Caspi of Toronto is a guitar-picking, classically-trained musician with a sly lyrical wit and a rich, powerful voice. She sings of love, travel, home, and heart, distilling each experience into a series of vibrant snapshots, coloured with humour and grace and arranged with care and craft.
QBANA was thrilled that Shawna entertained us at The Old School House (TOSH) to present one of her enchanting shows.
Shawna is a painter as well as a guitar player and in comparing music and art she once said:
“I do notice some correlation between them, particularly how the relationship between light and colour on canvas mirrors the relationship between sounds in music, how the amount of paint on a brush, the weight and direction of the stroke, mirrors dynamics in music, the length of a breath or a bow stroke.”
